About

Yevgeniy Vaskevich, also known as Yev K’banchik, is a Ukrainian-born filmmaker and visual storyteller based in Baltimore. His work is shaped by the experience of migration and by a deep engagement with the city he now calls home. Through intimate, character-driven storytelling, Yev creates films that speak to Baltimore’s communities while drawing from his own personal history.

Working across narrative and documentary forms, Yev’s films explore memory, grief, displacement, and healing. He is drawn to stories that unfold quietly—through presence, gesture, and lived experience—often focusing on individuals and communities navigating loss, resilience, and transformation. His approach favors emotional honesty and restraint, allowing space for complexity rather than resolution.

Yev is a member of Pinecone Creative Media and Do Good Video Production, where he collaborates on video projects for nonprofit organizations and community-based initiatives. Through this work, he helps mission-driven groups tell their stories with clarity, dignity, and care—using film as a tool for connection, advocacy, and social impact.

Whether creating independent films or working with nonprofits, Yev’s practice remains rooted in empathy and close collaboration. His work reflects a belief in cinema not only as an art form, but as a way to listen, bear witness, and build understanding across cultures and communities.
